Description

The CET Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training suits those in associate teaching roles or those aspiring to advance to the full Diploma in Education and Training.

The award covers the knowledge, understanding and skills required for session planning, negotiating learning goals, designing teaching, designing and use of resources, and learning and assessment strategies.

What you will need

You will need a Level 3 Award in Education and Training -AET. For this qualification, students should have 30 hours of voluntary or paid teaching experience and possess functional skills in English and Mathematics Level 2. For the duration of the course, you will need a mentor and this should be someone with appropriate subject specialist knowledge who will be able to help and support you through the program.

You must complete an application form and expect an interview.

What will the Certificate in Education and Training cover?

You will study six units: Understanding roles and responsibilities, planning to meet the needs of the learner, delivering education and training, assessing learners and using resources.

In addition to this, you will undertake an action research project in an area relevant to your own specialism. The teaching practice will have to run concurrently with the course and you will need to evidence this through schemes of work, lesson plans, evaluations, and resources.

The additional home study required – You will be expected to work independently at home. The home study usually takes at least five hours per week. For full participation in in-class activities, you must complete the required home study component of the course.

How will I be assessed?

For each unit, you will be required to provide written evidence to satisfy the learning outcomes. This will consist of a range of formal written academic assignments, documentary evidence such as schemes of work and lesson plans, and in-class presentations. You will be required to produce a portfolio of appropriate evidence along with supporting documentation.

You must complete four observations during the course.
