Manual Handling Course and Health & Safety are combined courses.

This training teaches proper lifting techniques in a 4-hour course. It benefits employees and protects the business from absenteeism and legal issues.

Objectives

This is essential in order to prevent injury and maintain a safe working environment. By gaining a clear understanding of the principles and practices of manual handling, one can effectively evaluate and enhance their manual handling techniques and procedures.

THIS TRAINING COURSE CONTENT

Anatomy of the spine: Study of the structure and function of the spine, including its bones, muscles, and nerves.

Principles of safer Moving & Handling: Essential concepts for performing manual handling tasks safely and effectively, minimizing the risk of injury.

Causes of back pain: In order to better understand the root causes of back pain, it is important to consider various factors, such as improper lifting techniques, prolonged sitting, and physical strain.

Unsafe systems of work: Identifying and addressing workplace practices and procedures that put employees at risk of injury while performing manual handling tasks.

Returning back to work: Moreover, having a clear understanding of the relevant legislation and regulations, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Manual Handling Operations Regulations, is vital to ensure compliance and maintain a safe working environment.

Equipment demonstrations & practice: Moreover, hands-on demonstrations and practice with manual handling equipment such as hoists, slings, and transfer boards provide a comprehensive training experience.

Moving & Handling Assessments: Evaluating manual handling techniques and procedures, with the aim of identifying areas for improvement, and subsequently taking necessary corrective action to enhance their effectiveness.

Manual Handling Risk Assessment: Formal assessment of manual handling tasks and the associated risks, with recommendations for reducing those risks.

Manual Handling Legislation: To ensure compliance and maintain a safe working environment, it is important to have a clear understanding of relevant legislation and regulations, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Manual Handling Operations Regulations.

Evaluation: Assessing the effectiveness of the manual handling training program and making recommendations for improvement.

Minimum age: 18

Successful candidates receive a certificate in Manual Handling.
